Already on Medicaid
If you have Medicaid, these hours may already be paid for.
Most families do not know a waiver can cover help at home — personal care, meals, housekeeping, someone with your parent while you work. Where hours are approved we bill Medicaid directly, and there is nothing for you to pay.
We check for free. You do not need to understand the paperwork.

We handle the paperwork
Waiver forms, service authorisations, the case worker. You give us the Medicaid number and we do the rest.
Nothing comes out of your pocket
Hours the State approves are billed to Medicaid directly. There is no co-pay and no invoice to you for those hours.
It is more hours than people expect
Families routinely find they are entitled to daily help when they assumed it was a couple of visits a week.
Not sure if you have it?
Tell us the name and date of birth and we will find out. Plenty of people are eligible and have never applied.
What happens after you get in touch
A conversation, not a sales call
Ten minutes on the phone. What is going on, who needs help, how urgent it is. If we are not the right answer we will say so.
A free visit at home
We come to the house, meet them, walk the rooms and write a plan. Nothing is charged for this and nothing is signed on the day.
Care starts
Usually within a few days. You meet the caregiver first, and if the fit is wrong we change it.
What people ask before they call
- We already have Medicaid but nobody mentioned this.
- That is the normal story. Coverage for in-home help sits under a waiver that has to be asked for, and nobody volunteers it. We will check what is already approved.
- Do we have to change case worker or doctor?
- No. Nothing about the rest of the care changes. We are added as the provider of the home hours.
- How long does approval take?
- It varies, and it is not ours to decide. Waiver programmes need a level of care assessment and places are limited, so a wait is possible. We will tell you what we are waiting on and where it is, rather than leaving you to chase it.
What we can and cannot promise
A-Life Home Health Care is an approved Nebraska Medicaid provider. We are not Nebraska DHHS and we do not decide who qualifies. Medicaid eligibility, eligibility for a home and community based services waiver, the level of care assessment, the number of hours authorised, and who may be paid as a caregiver are all determined by the State of Nebraska.
- We will help you apply and tell you honestly what we think is likely — but we cannot guarantee that you or your relative will be approved.
- We cannot guarantee any particular number of hours, or that a specific person will be approved as a paid caregiver.
- Under current Nebraska rules a spouse cannot be paid as the provider, and neither can a parent or guardian of a child under 19.
- Waiver places are limited and a waiting list is possible. Programme rules, funding and rates can change.
- Nothing on this site is legal, tax or benefits advice. For the official position, contact Nebraska DHHS on 1-800-430-3244 or visit dhhs.ne.gov.
What we would actually be doing

Personal care assistance
Bathing, dressing, toileting and grooming, done in a way that keeps their dignity intact.

Dementia & Alzheimer’s care
Caregivers who understand repetition, sundowning and refusal, and do not take any of it personally.

Companionship
Conversation, games, reading, a walk. Loneliness does measurable harm and this is the treatment for it.
Tell us what is going on. We will tell you what is possible.
No cost for the call or the visit, and nobody will pressure you into anything.
